It was a bookish weekend. Friday, we went to Goodwill and the library, and I got 5 books (Coraline: The Graphic Novel, David Letterman's Top Ten Lists II, Tales from the Dark Side vol 1, Gilgamesh, and Dave Barry in Cyberspace) for $3. I've already read (and traded) two of them.
Saturday, Amazon had 16 Ray Bradbury Kindle ebooks for just $1.99 each! My sister gave me a one-day-early birthday gift card, so I got 8 of them, plus Chuck Klosterman IV for $2.99. Also Saturday, we went to The Book Tavern so I could use my store credit, as they're closed on Sundays. I got The Far Side and Peanuts collections. And since 2nd & Charles is on the way to Book Tavern, we swung by there with a bag of trades. I picked up Gahan Wilson's Monster Book and Prime Evil, plus a DVD. I didn't have to spend any money because I had enough store credit! Woohoo!
Yesterday, I read the Gahan Wilson book, but otherwise didn't do much that was book-related... unless you count creating a free coupon code for Halloween Tales.
Today I'm expecting a Hellboy Animated book I ordered via mail. That's my birthday present to me from me. Thanks, Roy! You're welcome, Roy!
Needless to say, I have a lot of new books to read; 16 or so (counting a couple free Kindle books I downloaded) I got this weekend alone. Fortunately, most of them are reasonably short. Cartoon galleries, graphic novels, humor books, and short story collections are easier for me to read than novels, and 6 of the books I got are short story collections.
And that was my birthday weekend. I enjoyed it, and hope you enjoy the free book, Halloween Tales!
