I've been reading horror and/or Halloween-themed comics and graphic novels for the past few weeks. I've bought a few more kiddie-type books for All Hallows Read... and read them so I'd know about the age range for which they'd be appropriate. Stuff like ghost/Halloween joke books, Wildstorm's Halloween Trilogy of Terror, Ray Bradbury's The Halloween Tree, Gary Larson's The Curse of Madame "C," and other such fun stuff for kids of all ages, including one of the Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror 'graphic novels.'
I'd like to get more of the Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror collections; I already have the first one, Bart Simpson's Heebie-Jeebie Hullaballoo. It's not as good as some the others I've read, but there is some good stuff in there. I'm still debating whether or not to give it away.
Speaking of debating for All Hallows Read, I'm torn about I Luv Halloween. I enjoyed those manga, but they're really mature. I'm not sure if they'd be appropriate for trick-or-treaters of any age. I traded my copy, but I could easily get it again... and maybe the other two, as well. If I do, it'd most like be just for my reading enjoyment only.
As you can imagine, I'll be ordering several Halloween-themed manga/graphic novels on October 1st, if only for me and not All Hallows Read. We'll see how generous I feel come 10/31.
Anyway... this was a long-winded post meant only to say that Halloween Tales is free until September 30th. Go get yours if you haven't already!
