While Danielle loved the novel, Heidi's review alerted me to some editing problems in the last quarter of the book or so. I promised I'd pull up the most recent file and do some more editing. She also warned potential readers about the graphic sex scene near the end, though she admitted it had been building up toward that throughout the story. I heavily debated cutting away from that scene, as I wrote it when I was about 20 and had sex on the brain even more so than now; ha! However, several people suggested in 2010 that I "sex it up," so I left it in there. I suppose I could tone it down a bit, though!
Anyway... as much as I'd rather work on something new, I have an obligation to people who try to avoid indies for no other reason than lack of decent editing. It's actually rather fortunate that I got that review from a critical reader/author's eye before I could afford to have paperbacks printed to sell at events and local bookstores. Now I'll have to put off working on either of my current projects until I re-post The Odic Touch, fully edited and ready for mass consumption.
Something I'm considering now is unpublishing The Odic Touch from Smashwords, Amazon, and Nook until it's done... but first I want to wait until I've sold the last couple copies so I'll have my royalties at the end of March. I can leave Halloween Tales available, though. It's only 99 cents, and not as much of a commitment for a reader.
I don't think there's anything to add on top of all that, so I'll shut up now.
