I still plan to make it free again when I read 300 Facebook followers here: http://www.facebook.com/royhudsonauthor
In other writing news, I'm slowly progressing on the quasi-NaNo, which may be undergoing a tentative title change. "Hyding Out" is too obvious, so I may change the name of the book to include the setting, Jekyll Island, another nod to Stevenson's story. I considered "Hiding Out on Jekyll Island," which is more tongue-in-cheek, as is most of the novel. I hope it's as fun to read as it is to write...
Not that I've been writing much in it. I used my first-person narrator to skip the boring shit, and it works because he's on psychiatric meds, which can cause memory loss and a feeling of numbness that makes it hard to enjoy any experience. I kept that stuff limited to a paragraph or two. I've introduced the narrator's love interest and her son, who are only in the book for a small portion. In fact, I worry I may have introduced them too early. It'd be a shame for this novel to wind up as a "novella."
I also thought of an alter ego for the narrator, kind of an actual Hyde character, only... not a separate persona. He comes up with a fake ID and... Well, I'd rather not spoil it, on the chance it may eventually be published.
And now it's time to get ready for school. I'll work on the story while there. More later.
