Today there's an interview with me on Angela Scott's blog, here: http://whimsywritingandreading.weebly.com/2/post/2012/02/i-try-to-be-a-plotter-but-most-of-the-time-my-plans-dont-work-out-roy-hudson-author-of-the-odic-touch-interview.html.
Tomorrow there will be a review of The Odic Touch on Firefly & Wisp's blog. I'm hoping that might generate a little more buzz. I only need to sell two more Smashwords copies in order to earn a royalty check before the quarter ends in March. I know it's not about the money, but it would be nice to have something to show for it, especially since I haven't gotten many reviews for the novel to generate word-of-mouth. I've moved almost 30 copies, and only two or three have been paid. That's a tad annoying. After some personal drama and a crisis of conscience where I questioned whether or not I've got what it takes to be a successful author (which was dumb, because I've already had a novel picked up by a publisher, for release roundabout November/December), I went on a rather long walk today (3 miles!) to think. Well... okay, so I was walking to several stores to do some shop therapy. hehe I got some movies at the going-out-of-business Blockbuster (Bright Star, The Reader, Gulliver's Travels, Sin City, The Green Hornet, It's Kind of a Funny Story, and Devil), lunch at Cici's Pizza, and then to Goodwill to look at used books... And in Goodwill, I picked up a book called Keep Believing in Yourself and Your Special Dreams: Words to Motivate and Inspire Your Dreams. It was used and had an inscription inside to someone named Keith, presumably to congratulate him on his high school graduation. Anyway, I opened it and started reading some of the advice. I decided to buy it. It was 99 cents, the same price as my ebook Halloween Tales (which I resurrected this morning in defiance of this month's Single Awareness Day)... and in hardcover, too! So what if it was a gift to some dude named Keith who dropped it off at Goodwill? It's mine now, and boy did I need it. =) Now I can focus on getting my head back in the game. So yeah... Halloween Tales is back on Smashwords, interview is on Angela Scott's blog today, and review of The Odic Touch on Firefly & Wisp's blog tomorrow (http://fireflywisppublishing.blogspot.com). Like I said, it's a pretty big week. I'm also interested in finding how much a paperback package from Lulu would cost.... I wouldn't be able to afford it until March (at least), but it'd be useful information for the future. I want to thank everyone who follows me here, on Facebook, on Goodreads, and on Twitter, as well as everyone who's bought the book, whether it was free or not. Moving copies means I'm getting a readership... making a living off the books will come as long as I keep that readership satisfied... I know that. I also want to thank God for dropping that motivational book in front of my eyes at Goodwill today. It really helped. (You may ask, "How do you know it was God?" Well, it was in the middle of some Christian books... I rarely browse those titles, but today for some reason I decided to read every single book's spine in that Goodwill store... I wanted to spend a lot of time there so that someone could get off work and come drive me home. hehe COINCIDENCE?? I think not!)
