In addition to dressing as Poe, I participated in Neil Gaiman's All Hallow's Read. I took a bag full of books to school and handed them out to USCA's writing tutors. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to share any with my sister's co-workers in Aiken Tech's tutoring center... but USCA's tutors appreciated it! They picked books by Washington Irving, Robert Louis Stevenson, and Ray Bradbury. And I knew that one tutor is a mom, so I took some kids' books with me. She said she can't read scary stuff, but she picked up Disney's The Sorceror's Apprentice picture book for her 4-year-old. =)
I also did the All Hallow's Read thing here at home when the trick-or-treaters came around. Unfortunately, there were more little kids than I'd anticipated, so I ran out of books for them fairly early... but, their moms got some books from me instead! hehe I was able to share Stephen King with some cute moms, so that made me happy. Yay!
Speaking of book-sharing with moms... An old friend from elementary school (yeah, a LONG time ago) was in town and she brought her kids by to trick-or treat. While she was here, she gave me a gift card from 2nd & Charles, my favorite second-hand book store! Double Yay! So, I'll be going there at some point today. hehe
I'm a little sad that Halloween's over and I didn't get to do a lot of the traditional stuff... but there's always next year!
Now... today's November 1st, which means NaNoWriMo starts today. I'm a bit nervous because I registered Hyding Out. I haven't finished typing out what's in the notebook yet, but once I do, I'll probably have the first day's worth of words. hehe So... I'd better go get started on typing that. If any other authors out there are participating in NaNoWriMo
